I pushed myself to explore portraiture in new mediums, I created a photo essay on the Sisters in Action. In this documentary photography series, I aim to show the sides of an art form that many people know about but do not understand.

Drag is one of the primary targets of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and censorship, but the people attacking drag and drag performers know very little about the people and their world. I drew from the types of photography of other artists and performers. I wanted to show these artists, like many others have been shown before, getting ready, centering themselves before a show, performing, and their interactions with audience members.

Because I have established relationships with these performers and am involved in their work, I was able to capture these quiet, intimate, personal images. The performers were comfortable with my presence and knew that I would not misrepresent them.
